Color TV-Game
Before creating a popular hybrid console, Nintendo produced its
first generation of video game consoles in the 70s.
Back
in 1977, Nintendo produced its first own hardware, the Color TV-Game home video
game consoles. The series debuted on 1 June 1977 with the Color TV-Game 6,
which was jointly developed with Mitsubishi Electronics. The "6" in
the console's name meant that it included six variations of the game Light
Tennis. It could be played in singles or doubles mode. The players would
control their paddles with dials attached directly to the machine.
Although
the company released the Color TV Game, it did not achieve worldwide success
until the release of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1983.
Two
years ago, the Nintendo Switch was released worldwide. It was a
"hybrid" console, which can be played as a home console and in
portable mode. The main unit can be inserted into a docking station to connect
to a television. The sides can also be detached to the portable tablet display
for a two-player experience.
